The day started out sunny then it started to get a little overcast. I looked at my radar to see if the rain would interfere with the shoot and the rain was right behind us. So we tried to take as many photos as we could we could before it started to pour. Then we started thinking of cute ideas we could do with an umbrella if it did start to pour.

Well. It never rained. So we were a little disappointed. But there was a pond near by, so they decided they would end the shoot with jumping in it. Hey, that works for me!

Shawn proposed in a vineyard. So of course their engagement photos should be at a Vineyard. We picked a vineyard in Angier called Gregory Vineyards. Such a gorgeous place! Their wine and juices are pretty tasty too!

I was looking over the photos that I have taken this past year in 2010 and there were so many memories. Then I got to thinking. I would love to see everyone else's favorite photo from this year. So I have decided to set up a contest..

My husband and I drove 5 hours to reach the lovely city of Greenville SC. The whole city was covered in Christmas lights and decor as we arrived. It was absolutely stunning. We woke up the next morning, got some coffee, lunch, bought some adorable wedged boots, and headed to the church! It was an adorable quaint church and the bride was absolutely stunning. You can tell she is in love by her smile. When I got there she told me that she melted her purity ring and made Daniel's wedding band out of that medal. How sweet is that??

We drove up in our Caddie the same time the groomsmen arrived. They were going a little crazy. My first thought was "..ok, this is going to be interesting." But as the day went on, they turned out to be all right. ;)

It was super hot outside, but we were able to take some photos outside before we started to melt.

31 days to go till I get to marry my best friend. I can't even explain to you in words how excited I am. I NEVER thought this day would come.

First time he said he liked me... August 31st, 2006
First kiss... January 1, 2007

3 years later he proposed... March 22nd, 2010.

THIRTY ONE DAYS AND WE WILL BE MARRIED. AHHHHH.

I know most of you want to know details. So I will start will the most important, with the question E-V-E-R-Y-O-N-E has been asking me. "So, who will be your photographer?" I am happy to say that it will be the amazing Jamie Delaine!

We are going to be getting married outside on the lawn of this house that was built in 1902.

We planned to take pictures on one day at a certain farm. That one day rained. So we switched to another day and another farm. And it worked out P-E-R-F-E-C-T. We had so much fun. They met about a year and half ago at NC State. They are planning on getting married this December! :)

Wow. Haven't blogged in a while..i'm almost positive it's due to the fact that i'm getting married in 47 days! :D I will be posting more about wedding details, because i'm sure most of you would like to know..

For now, here is an engagement shoot that I did on Saturday. It was the first Saturday where it really felt like Fall. When I arrived at the location I was actually cold. [i'm just a pansy] We get there and Ryan & Korrie are tossing around the football. As a couple they have a love for sports! In every picture you can tell they love each other like crazy. :)

In February, Korrie entered in the Valentine's Day contest. It took us a few months to get together, but the wait was well worth it! :)

My soon-to-be-brother-in-law has his own soap business. He makes a lot of variety and the all smell soo good. A few months ago I went in and took pictures of his products. About three years ago I met Jenn at the Ohio State County Fair while I was with my cousin. Soon after she added me as a friend on facebook. A few months ago she emails me and says she is getting married and wants me to shoot her wedding! It worked out perfectly, because my cousin is graduation high school and we would be up in Ohio the weekend before her wedding!

The day went perfect. Everyone was so relaxed and I don't think a single thing went wrong the entire wedding. Congrats you guys. Thank you for letting me shoot your wedding! :)

The reason I have not posted lately was because I went to Ohio for a while to shoot my cousin's senior pictures and to shoot a wedding! I had a blast seeing all of my family and the weather was BEAUTIFUL. It was about 100-104 degrees at home the whole time we were away. So glad we got out of that one!

I can't believe my cousin is graduating next year! He is all grown up. Not to mention he is 6 foot 5. 0_o I feel like a midget next to him. Anyway, here he is. :)

We scheduled for 8:30 a.m. since it was supposed to be in the 90's that day. It was pretty cool and breezy in the beginning. But sure enough, North Carolina humidity didn't want to give up on us. So he came around 9. I felt like my make up was sliding down my face. Despite NC's gross conditions we got some good photos with NO sweat drops down the face. [this is an accomplishment]

I woke up ready to shoot a wedding! I look outside and its POURING down rain, thundering, and lighting like crazy. I wait to the storm calms down a bit to put all my gear in the car. Then I was off. Needless to say..the storm followed me. The entire way. A drive that should only take me 30-45 minutes took me an hour and a half.

As soon as the wedding was about to start, the sun decided to show it's presence and it was perfect the rest of the day! [God is good!!]
They are so cute together. Congrats Andrew and Bekah! Thanks for letting me shoot your special day. :)

The forecast was scheduled for rain and thunderstorms. We were hoping & praying that we would have perfect sunny skies! Well, we did have both. Fortunately we took ALL of the photos before the ceremony started and boy was I glad we did that. The weather was perfect, not too sunny, a little bit hot, but the photos turned out so well.

As soon as the ceremony started it was a torrential down pour. Almost everyone in the bridal party was soaked. Including myself and the wedding coordinator. But everyone had such a good attitude about everything that it didn't ruin the day one bit!

I just shot Bekah & Andrew's wedding this past Sunday and I'm finally able to show you her bridal portraits! We were shooting for about 3 hours and had so much fun. We went to the chapel where they got married and then the reception place. The pictures came out better than what I thought they did. Bekah is absolutely gorgeous. See for yourself..

Two months before their wedding, John came back from Iraq. It is only by God's grace & mercy that he came back!

Their wedding day was absolutely beautiful. Recent rain washed all the nasty pollen away. It was the perfect temperature with a nice light wind. There was crying and laughter throughout the whole entire day. It truly was beautiful.

We started out at this barn in a random field. We go to take pictures in front of this barn and Hannah [Steph's sister] & my Fiance open this one door in the barn and then they both froze. Steph and I were like [?] they point to the door and right there is a pretty fresh bloody handprint. I WAS ABOUT TO PEE MY PANTS. It was so eerie feeling and I didn't feel like taking pictures there anymore, but I did. Anyway, my fiance still thinks its the coolest thing ever and he starts taking pictures of it!!! [WHY?!?!?] I will spare those who get freaked out like me..but if you want to see a picture of it, then I might post it up.

p.s. we went to the police station and told them about everything and they went to check it out.

Anyway, here is the B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L Stephanie. I have seen her grow up these passed years and I can't believe she is graduating. Not only is she one of my best friends, but she is practically my younger sister that I never had.

The barn on the right is where "it" was.

She recently got her braces off, so she smiles ALL the time now. :)

We tried to work on her serious face a little more. But she's definitely getting there. ;)

Almost exactly a year ago I was supposed to take maternity pictures of Elizabeth, but that morning she went into labor. So, a year later I thought Audrey couldn't refuse to get pictures taken of her this time. ;) This was when it was peak time for all that nasty green junk. But with a few rags to dust off everything, it turned out pretty well.

She's such a girl. :)

Leaves falling. Perfect sun. Dead cows. Cow poop. Mud. - This was pretty much most of the experience on this bridal shoot. The location was amazing, it was like a fairy land.

On March 22nd my boyfriend of 3 years asked me to marry him!

We were in the mountains with his family on a mini-vacation and we went to go to Linville Falls [Boone, NC] Gid and I get to the top of the waterfall and we reach this rock platform. As we get there it stared snowing. The top of the waterfall was just gorgeous! Then we sit down on this ledge and he pull out a piece of paper that's entitled "Reasons why I love Christi!" he starts to read this to me and I start to tear up. Then we he finishes he gets down on both knees and ask that one simple question. "Will you marry me?" as soon as he finishes that question I start BALLING!!! [I mean ugly balling. scrunched up red face] After I compose myself, I say yes! :)

Of course I took a picture of him while he was still on his knees. ;)

We headed into town to take Bram's Senior pics. It was a beautiful sunny day, until it was time to take his pictures. The clouds started rolling in and it looked like it was going to pour. But thank goodness it didn't! We had a lot of fun with this shoot. Especially when Bram showed me how to look like a real model with his lips. [which he just learned this piece of information from a friend] "All you have to do is blow through your lips so a little crease will show." Needless to say...he would randomly do this every once in a while and it was hilarious. :)

Bram is planning on attending Appalachian State University this fall.

We found this pretty awesome bus. So we were like "hey, let's stand on it and take some pictures!" ;)

Then he put on the suit.

This just makes me laugh.

When it got darker we went back to the bus to make some more pictures. :)

Lynnae and her mom Christine came down all the way from Ohio so I could take her senior pictures. Christine saw my pictures through facebook and decided that she wanted me to take her pictures! So they hopped on a plane and came down here! We had a perfect day to take pictures. They weren't used to it being 70 degrees and to have flowers blooming. So it was perfect. Lynnae will be attending a college in Cleveland Ohio are and she wants to be a sonogram technician.

We ventured out on a shoot which started out sunny and semi-warm. Then it dropped about 15 degrees and started to get really windy. Needless to say, she was freezing the entire time. But, it worked out well because we got some really good shots and you can barely tell that she was FREEZING!

Evalyn's First Birthday

Three days before my birthday my beautiful Niece Evalyn was born! About a month ago was her first birthday! She is so grown up and she is just the most precious thing I have ever seen. Of course I am a little bias. But I love her like crazy. Here are a few pictures from her birthday celebration. The theme was "Chunky Monkey" because that is her nickname. :)

I have never really been good at making certain choices. So, needless to say I picked everyone who entered!! So all the couples below will get a FREE shoot with me! I hope you enjoy their stories just as much as I did.

Couple #1- Katie & Alex | Submitted by Katie

The Story..

I’ve been dating my soul mate for a year and two months. We met unexpectedly in the fall of 2008. My younger brother was in his first year at West Point (The United States Military Academy), and he was trying to set me up with a senior. He knew I’ve always wanted to marry a military man, probably because our daddy is a marine, and we’ve been blessed to admire our parent’s rock-solid marriage for 23 years. It was risky business for my brother, since he wasn’t allowed to befriend upperclassmen as a “plebe.” Nevertheless, he told me to search for some people under West Point’s class of 2009 on Facebook, and lo and behold, Alex Sudyk was the first to pop up. We had a mutual friend – a girl I went to school with at the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. Since Moody is such a small school, I was very curious how they knew each other, so I sent him a message that introduced myself and inquired about my friend. Their connection was pretty uninteresting, but he wasn’t! We began messaging each other daily, over the course of three months. Finally, we met in person when I dropped my brother off at school after Thanksgiving break. The next week we went on our first date, and the rest is history. He graduated as a commissioned 2nd Lieutenant from West Point last May, and posted to Fort Benning, GA. Though long distance and life with the army is extremely hard, he makes it worth every single second. I'm counting down the days until we can be together forever.

In the spirit of Valentine's Day, I wrote an original poem that I'd also like to share:

My Soldier Has My Heart

I didn’t know what to expect

When I fell in love with a soldier.

Everything happened so fast and, suddenly,

With him I envisioned growing older.

The late-night calls, the beautiful cards,

He took my breath away.

His precious love swept me off my feet;

I know that it’s here to stay.

The Army brings many challenges,

But our love is the highest of pursuits.

Nothing will ever come between us:

Me and my hero in combat boots.

Even though, for now, we are apart,

And at night I long for his kiss

I count myself lucky, because in the end

I’m so glad I have someone to miss.

I’ve traded my pearls for his dog tags,

And from now until death do us part,

In good times and bad, through thick and thin,

My soldier has my heart.

Couple #2- Dillon & Dana | Submitted by Dillon

The story begins with two high school sophomores in an extremely boring English class. It is as if by fate that these two students are sitting next to each other. The boy, sitting with his bangs dangling in front of his eyes, which are nervously and constantly shifting to his left, then rapidly shifting back if the slightest glance is returned. The girl sits quietly doing her work, aware of the looks, but not quite sure how to react. Then, in one bold act of courage, the boy blurts out and asks "Can I borrow your notes?" and seems startled at himself for speaking up. The girl, equally shocked, agrees. Their eyes finally meet for longer than a millisecond and smiles light their faces.

From this first encounter, the two have now become good friends that are the only thing keeping each other sane in this boring English class. They talk and text all the time, and even hang out for a group project at each others house. There is obviously an attraction of sorts, however they never act upon it...yet.

One year from sophomore English. A whole summer and semester have gone by with the two speaking every now and then. It is the last month of Junior English first period, and the two begin speaking again. They reminisce about the fun times had as sophomores, and how they really should talk again. They soon begin working at the same place soon after, and talk more than ever.

Later that month, we find the couple talking as the boy gets a ride home from work, where they have both just spent their nights together having fun together. As they pull up the driveway, the conversation dies out, and they are left in silence parked. And then with even more courage than the first encounter, the boy leans over and their lips connect. The young couple is now joyous with the feelings they have for each other.
Soon after, the couple begins dating. They now spend their weekends and at least one week day spending together. They learn more and more about each other, and everything just seems to work. They'll be dating for 7 months minus one day on Valentine's day. And the boy has to say...

She's perfect in every way for me. She's funny, talented, shares the same passion for music that I do, beautiful, outgoing, and overall just makes me happy. Her name even starts with a D, too! I love spending every minute that I can with her, and I'm extremely happy with our relationship. We're there for each other, and I know we will be for a long long time. I love her more than I've ever loved anybody, and I could not picture myself without her.

Couple #3- Mike & Martha | Submitted by Martha

Why I love the Man I love......

It all started in 8th grade. No,not the love affair but the praying. In chapel one day, a preacher urged us kids to start right now praying for our future mates. I said, “what the heck”, it couldn’t hurt anything. So that is what I did. I prayed every night for the man who one day would hopefully be my soul mate. Little did I know that the man I would be marrying was just entering the army. He definitely needed the prayers.

I continued praying until I was almost 17. Then it happened. At a youth group bonfire, this young looking kid got out of a really shiny red jeep. I first noticed his bright blonde hair and then his bright white teeth. Cheesy, I know but that is what struck me first. The next thing I noticed was how young he looked. Cute, but too young for me I thought. HA!! God definitely has a sense of humor. He was quite a bit older than I was.

So, the guy hung around. He started coming to church and getting involved. A few months later he asked me for a date. Well, I thought, NOW it’s getting interesting. As much as I wanted to say yes, I told him I would only date him if my Daddy said it was ok. Much to my surprise, Daddy said yes but with one stipulation.......well there were quite a few stipulations but the major one was that this handsome guy had to go through a bible study book with my Dad. Not expecting him to do this at all, I told this guy the requirement and much to my surprise he agreed, gladly I might add.

So, fast forward 5 years. We had wanted to get married early but dear

ol’ Daddy insisted that I get out of college first. Hurray for him..... that was a VERY smart move and one I am forever grateful he made me accomplish! We planned my dream wedding in a country church in the town where my Grandparents lived. We had the horse drawn carriage and everything. There is NOTHING about that day that I would change other than I wish it all could have lasted longer. I will never forget that day.

Fast forward once again 4 more years. We are still happily married. Shocking I know! We have one biological son who my husband loves probably too much-if that’s possible. We have also just recently returned from a 6 week trip to Ukraine to adopt our special needs little girl. My husband was my rock in Ukraine. He always would lighten the mood and seriousness of the situation by making me laugh. He then agreed to stay 3 more weeks by himself to bring our little girl home so I could go home to be with our very homesick son. He is the most selfless man I know.

So here we are at the end of my love story. I could go on and on but I’d fill up too many pages. I thank God for bringing Mike Evans into my life. He could not be a better husband or father to my children and more than anything, I treasure his friendship.

Couple #4- Corrie & Ryan | Submitted by Corrie

Ryan and I met last October right before Halloween. Neither one of us were looking for anything serious and just wanted to have fun. We went on 1 date and then I went to Boston a long weekend. So after our first date we weren't really able to talk and didn't know what the other one was thinking!

From October to December we went out about once every week or so. Each time having more fun than the last. In January, Ryan invited me to go skiing with him and some friends. I had NEVER tried skiing but wanted to spend time with him so I said yes! This is the trip that changed everything! We had a wonderful ride up until we almost drove off the mountain and I had to literally crawl out of the car to keep it from going over! Talk about dramatic! We recovered from this and had a great night tubing with his friends. Next up: ski lessons for Korrie (aka tears and swearing!) Yep, Ryan's ski lessons weren't the most brilliant and left me frustrated and upset. I told him to go and ski without me and I would try again later. Well, I get up the nerve to try again and skied down perfectly without falling. Ryan cheered me on the whole way down. The next day, as we are heading home...I realized that Ryan and I had an absolutely WONDERFUL weekend despite two rather trying events. This was my revelation, if we could survive a rough weekend and still leave smiling and laughing...this was how I wanted to spend the rest of my life!

We have been absolutely inseparable ever since! Even when we have rough days, we can always end them with an "I love you" and a smile!

Bradee | Colorado Portrait Session

When I went to Colorado last September for the photography class. I met this amazing girl name Bradee. [yes, like the bunch!] We hit it off right off and we were like bestfriends when we left. We have missed each other so much it is ridiculous.

Anyway, long story short. I wanted to surprise Bradee for her birthday! [I am exactly a week older than her. hehe] Her mom and I have been messaging over facebook for the past three weeks and I decided to fly out to Colorado and surprise her! We were hoping that she wouldn't find out, and we succeeded! For the past 4 months we have been sending each other a package every month. So last week I told her that I sent out her "package" Low and behold she had NO clue that I would be her package! She was VERY surprised. She was in shock for about an hour. Mission accomplished. :)

So today we decided to go on a photoshoot for fun. Is she not gorgeous?!

She's cute AND crazy. :]

We played around with the lighting a bit and I fell in love with some new techniques. :)

It was about 30 degrees and we headed out for a shoot. Talk about FREEZING. But we still had a lot of fun together (minus the cold). They battled it quite well actually. I get to shoot their wedding in May and I am so excited about it! :)

I used off camera flash for the first time on their shoot. Oh man I can tell a HUGE difference. I am in LOVE with off camera flash now.

I LOVE the ice in the shoot. Just a reminder of how cold it was.

I was able to second shoot this wedding with Cait I drove up to Burlington by myself to meet her up there. I have never driven by myself for that long, and I have decided that I am not a big fan. ANYWAY..I finally got there after turning around several times. The bride was gorgeous as well as the bridesmaids. There was classic cars, the whole day was just perfect!

I met Jamie & Yvonne a few years ago when I went down to Florida with my bestfriends. Ever since then Jamie and I kept up with each other via facebook chat. ;)

A week ago I headed down to Florida with my parents and I was able to take their pictures! We went around the resort that we were staying out. The weather was about 80 degrees in December, so odd. But, pretty nice. So here is one shoot out of the four that I got to take while I was in Florida. Man, I love my job.

I have known the Vaughn family for about 4ish years. In that amount of time I have babysat several times, cleaned there house, and now I got to take their pictures! Hope: "So, I have this pretty amazing ghetto outfit that I want to wear in front of this graffiti tunnel. I just think that would be awesome."

So as soon as we get to this graffiti tunnel on NC States Campus, there just happens to be tons of people going in and out of the tunnel.

Hope: "Um..I think I don't need pictures here, I don't like all these people being here."
Me: "You were so excited about this, come on. We have to get pictures here!"

She finally came to her senses and we got some awesome pictures because of it. Hope is planning to attend either UNC Ashboro or UNC Wilmington. She wants to be a teacher for elementary school and be a soccer coach on the side. Can't wait to see what is in store for her! :)

Oh yeah, and she is REALLY good at soccer.

They met in high school where they both worked at the NC Museum of Natural Science. Six years later..they are engaged! They were in a aquarium in Georgia where he proposed under water!! I got to see a video on her facebook. AHH! So sweet.

We have scheduled this shoot about 4 times. But every time we were planning on doing it, it decided to rain on us. FINALLY we got the perfect day. We walked all around her neighborhood taking picture, we had such a great time. They are an adorable couple. I will be shooting their wedding in May and I can't wait!

I left Sept. 9 and I headed to the beautiful Denver Colorado. I will be in Colorado till Oct. 1st. I am going to a photography institute in Manitou Sorings taking some classes. I can NOT wait! I am so excited.
